The results achieved qualify for the two-yearly inspection criteria as stated in CAP 437Edition 8: 3.39 Note 3 as all areas are 0.10 μ above the minimum of 0.65 μ

Note 1: Should major rework be undertaken, or the helideck surface repainted retesting would be required.

Note 2: Any name change of vessel or rig will require a reissue of certificate only and issued on request from us upon documented proof of name change.


The results are acceptable as stated in Table 2 for a moving platform, and helicopter operations can be conducted without the use of a helideck landing net, at the discretion of the Helicopter ServiceProvider.

The results in Table 1 (below) show the required and the achieved values, as downloaded from the Findlay Irvine Friction Tester (S/No 166H) and the full test results are attached within Table 3 of this report.

Results are recorded in the coefficient of friction and symbolised as such by μ.

7. FRICTION TESTRESULTS

The results reflected below in Table 3 are produced using Findlay Irvine MicroGT Friction Tester, Serial Number 166H are of an acceptable value to pass the criteria set in Table 1 for a moving vessel, and as such a helideck friction certification will be valid for one year, unless major redial work is undertaken to the surface of the helideck that may change the characteristics of the helideck surface.

Areas in the graph of Table 3 that indicate red, which is indicative of being below the threshold of 0.65μ are deemed to be acceptable, as either within an acceptable tolerance, or not adjacent squares as referred to in CAP 437 Edition 8 Rev Sept 2018 3.40 Note 1

Circle H Lighting is Installed and the measurement for this area is not required to be inclusive as part of the report
